Not at all. Chronic mid back tightness usually means the joints have been restricted for a while, but that doesn't mean they can't improve. We assess the current state of movement and build a realistic plan from there. Many patients with long-standing mid back pain respond well once the right structures are addressed.
I sit at a desk all day. Is that causing it?
Prolonged sitting is a major contributor, but it's rarely the whole story. Sitting loads the thoracic spine in a flexed position, which over time reduces mobility in the joints and ribs. We assess how your spine is actually moving and give you specific strategies for your work setup, not just "sit up straighter."
Do I need a GP referral?
